DESCRIPTION:Come journal with us using recycled materials! \n\n\n\n\nIn collaboration with the Digital Sexual Violence Support Center\, Heart Comonos invites you to a creative self-care workshop of “Junk Journaling.” While using recycled materials\, fabrics and collage techniques\, the participants will be invited to reflect on their boundaries\, coping mechanisms\, and emotional bandwidth. \nLearning goals: \n\nExplore self-care practices that welcome participants’ to explore their relationship with themselves and others.\nIdentify the coping mechanisms and habits that we may want to continue\, adjust or stop\nArticulate and express our wants\, needs and challenges around self-care\nLeave the workshop with a physical outline that they can use for future journaling sessions or conversations with dedicated service providers (e.g. therapist\, social worker\, etc.)\n\nGroup Guidelines \n\nUplift and encourage your peers\nSharing your pieces with the room is optional\nUse everyone’s preferred pronouns\nPlease use a name tag\nNo judgements\, critiques or advice giving\nTailor the prompts and responses to your needs\nOnly share what feels comfortable\n\nDisclaimer: This workshop is self-care oriented and will not entail any therapeutic or medical advice. Our primary activities include peer support\, survivor-centered research\, community outreach and workshops. \nWhat we (The DSVSC) bring to the community is a survivor-led praxis that centers lived experiences of online sexual violence and an understanding on how to apply holistic wellness methods\, to help process and heal from sexual trauma. More specifically\, we are looking to welcome and invite the peers of individuals who’ve experienced online sexual violence to reflect on their approaches to holistic wellness\, within a communal environment.”

Don’t toss it! \nCelebrate International Day of Zero Waste\, by bringing your broken/damaged small appliances\, computers\, electronics\, clothes\, jewelry\, books\, and more\, to the pop-up Repair Café at Whitby Central Library\, Meeting Room 1 on Saturday\, March 21\, 2026\, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to learn how to repair them with our expert volunteers. \nThis event is free but slots are limited\, register today! \n2. Join the Waste Diversion Event \nIn partnership with the Rotary Club of Whitby\, recycle “hard-to-recyclable” items and help reduce your impact on our planet. DESCRIPTION:Do you have a household item that’s broken?\nWe’ll show you how to fix it for free! \nRepair Café is a global movement that aims to reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills\, and to change society’s “throw-away” mindset. During Repair Café events\, anyone can come and get help fixing their broken items and most importantly\, learn from expert volunteer “fixers” about how to repair items themselves. \nWe will have fixers on-site for: \n\nBikes\nBooks\nClothing/Bags\nComputers\nElectronics\nSmall appliances\nSmall furniture\nToys\n\nPlease note we will also be partnering with Let’s Get Together to offer a Tech Collect Drive at this event. Please bring any unwanted computers or electronics to be refurbished (or safely recycled) and circulated back to youth in need in the community.
