SUMMARY:BeBot Volunteer Event at Sibbald Point Provincial Park
DESCRIPTION:Join the Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup to assist in the waste characterization and data collection process of debris captured by the BeBot! \n\n\nLooking for something fun and educational to do this summer? Join the Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup (GLPC)\, an initiative of Pollution Probe and the Council of the Great Lakes Region\, and a small team of volunteers to assist in the waste characterization and data collection process of debris captured by BeBot at Sibbald Point Provincial Park! \nThe BeBot is a beach-cleaning robot that captures plastic debris and other litter through sand-sifting technology. From smaller items such as plastic fragments and cigarette butts\, to larger take-out food and beverage containers\, the very first BeBot in Canada is able to collect a variety of items. It is important to collect and sort the waste to determine the types of items that are frequently making their way into the Great Lakes and negatively affecting our waterways. \nAll equipment required will be provided by GLPC\, and we only ask you to dress appropriately for the weather\, wear sunscreen\, and bring a reusable water bottle! \n*Event end time may vary depending on how much waste has been captured by the BeBot. \n*Please register at least two days before the event so we can notify the park in advance. \nAny questions or concerns may be directed to Teresa at ttsui@pollutionprobe.org. \nVisit https://www.greatlakesplasticcleanup.org/ to learn more about our work in the Great Lakes region!
